Celeste Lewis, an advanced practice Registered Nurse with her own specialized practice in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, she does a lot of extensive work with patients, including conducting psychiatric evaluations and diagnosing clients with mental illness. She also orders lab tests as needed and prescribes and then monitors psychotropic medications. Of course, she has a lot of experience to draw upon. She once worked for the Orleans Parish Prison, for example, where she handled psychiatric evaluations and routine follow-up psychiatric medication management appointments for general population inmates. She also monitored the lab values of patients with regard to psychiatric medications, handled crisis interventions, and evaluated the status of acutely homicidal and suicidal inmates. Overall, Celeste Lewis has as much experience and skill that a patient might need for effective treatment. She works closely with doctors and she takes part in much of the decision-making that goes with treating patients and she also has given constructive input to the treatment process. She has shown herself capable of providing care that is culturally sensitive, respectful, courteous and thoughtful. She also adaptable to change in virtually any clinical environment, including serving as an active member of the Medical Staff Organization and participating in client-centered treatment planning. Celeste Lewis also has advocated for clients to make sure that they get the care they need and she has incorporated physical health screening and health education at various healthcare organizations. She has a lot of education, starting with the Bachelor's Degree she earned in 1998 from the University of New Orleans and the Associate's Degree in Nursing she earned from the Charity School of Nursing at Delgado Community College in 2004. She then completed the RN to MSN/ FNP Program at Loyola University in 2008 and received an M.S. in Nursing in Psychiatric/ Mental Health Nursing from Vanderbilt University's School Of Medicine in 2011. She has been licensed in Louisiana as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse since 2011, but she has been a licensed Registered Nurse since 2004. |
